Whenever you had a cold as a kid, warm milk and turmeric was probably the first thing your mother gave to you. Turmeric warms up the throat and strengthens the body.
Many prefer drinking this warm delicacy throughout the whole winter, and now, when the world knows all about turmeric and its health benefits, what stops you from consuming it every day?
If you are a vegan, you may not fancy the option with milk, but turmeric and warm water is equally efficient, and it has become one of the most favorite morning routines.
Still wonder what makes turmeric that efficient? Let us remind you. It is a yellow spice from India, part of the ginger family.
In Auyrvedic medicine, turmeric is known as a strong antioxidant that fights free radicals, and it is also an antiseptic with natural anti-inflammatory effect.
It is commonly used in Indian cuisine, but if you do not like eating Indian food every day, there is a simple way to include this spice to your diet. Just spice up your warm lemon water!
For better effect, add a pinch of cinnamon, known for its anti-inflammatory effect and ability to regulate blood sugar, meaning you will eat less and feel full for longer.

- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- lemon juice (1/2 lemon)
- a pinch of cinnamon, optional
- 1/8 tsp honey or agave nectar
